Takeshi Inoue/井上剛志
Takeshi Inoue (born 1981) is a bi-cultural artist based in New York City. After receiving a Bachelor's degree in History from Sophia University in Tokyo, JAPAN in 2006, he studied Fine Art (Painting and Printmaking) at The Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. U.K. from 2010-2012.
Throughout his practice, Inoue explores himself, attempting to cope with 2 very different cultural backgrounds, Japanese and/or American, in both painting and photography. His work is an attempt to harmonize concepts that are considered as binary oppositions, such as collectivism/individualism, orient/occident, ordinary/special, everything/nothing, subject/object, original/reproduction, abstract/figurative, 2D/3D, analogue/digital, memory/truth, personal/universal and so on.
